Not every transaction should hit your budget

Reimbursed work expenses, balance transfers, one-off oddities — some transactions shouldn't count against your envelopes. Zypper gives you control at three levels:

  • Per transaction — every transaction has a budget impact setting: it can count normally, be excluded from the budget entirely, or be treated as a long-term credit card debt payment
  • Per account — an account can be excluded from budgeting while still counting toward net worth
  • Transferslinked transfers between your own accounts are movements, not income or spending, and don't distort your budget or cash flow

Long-term credit card debt

If a card carries a balance you're paying down over time, payments against that old balance aren't new spending. Marking the card as long-term debt (and payments with the matching budget impact) keeps your day-to-day budget about this month's money, while the debt itself stays visible in your net worth.
