Organizing transactions with tags

Tags cut across categories

Categories answer "what kind of spending was this?" — tags answer everything else: a vacation, a reimbursable work expense, a home renovation project. A transaction has exactly one category but can carry any number of tags, so tags are how you track things that span many categories.

Using tags

Create a tag (with its own color) the first time you need it, right from the transaction editor. Then:

• Add one or more tags to any transaction
• Filter the transactions page by tag to see everything with that label and its total
• Apply tags in bulk to many transactions at once
• Add tags automatically with transaction rules

Rename, recolor, or delete tags anytime — deleting a tag removes the label, never the transactions.
